Job Responsibilities:

Medication Orders: Assess orders based on the patient’s weight, allergy history, and compatibility. Accurately record orders in the patient profile and ensure medication orders are complete and ready for the next delivery. Resolve any issues with orders, including contacting the physician or nurse for clarification.

Intravenous Preparations: Train pharmacists and technicians in unit dose and IV areas. Prepare IV preparations (TPN, central lines, antibiotics, chemotherapy) and respiratory therapy syringes per departmental guidelines, ensuring error-free delivery.

Chemotherapy Orders: Process chemotherapy orders, ensuring dosages and calculations are checked by two pharmacists. Follow strict precautions when preparing chemotherapy, including using proper safety gear and preparing medications in the appropriate hood.

Serve as a Resource: Use accurate and up-to-date references to answer medication-related questions, including drug interactions, dosing, and compatibility. Review patient data as requested by physicians and make appropriate recommendations. Handle queries professionally and address potential issues, even in the absence of a supervisor. Function as a resource for the institution and assist in decision-making and problem-solving.
Job Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or PharmD degree.

Pharmacist license in the state of Ohio or must obtain one within 3 months of hire.
