Join Our Team at Saint John Hospital – Pharmacist Intern (Per Diem)

Saint John Hospital, a proud member of Prime Healthcare and located in Leavenworth, KS, is looking for a Pharmacist Intern to join our dynamic Pharmacy Department on a per diem, variable shift basis.

In addition to providing full-service acute care, we specialize in a wide range of services including 24/7 emergency care, senior behavioral health, skilled nursing, outpatient surgical procedures, diagnostic imaging (including 3D mammography), and comprehensive rehabilitation services. We are certified as an Acute Stroke Ready Hospital and have received 5-star ratings from Healthgrades for the Treatment of Sepsis (2018–2020) and Heart Failure (2020).

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of a licensed Pharmacist and in accordance with all applicable regulations, the Pharmacist Intern will:

  • Assist with drug distribution, patient counseling, and pharmacokinetic calculations

  • Prepare sterile admixtures using aseptic techniques

  • Handle dosage preparation, inventory control, billing, and stocking

  • Support performance improvement and data collection initiatives

  • Provide pharmaceutical care across all age groups: neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics

  • Participate in controlled substance accountability and medication storage area inspections

  • Maintain cleanliness and compliance standards within the department

  • Interact with customers, verify prescriptions, fill, package, and process payments

  • Perform other pharmacy-related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited Pharmacy School

  • Valid State Board of Pharmacy Intern Certificate
