About the Job
Job Summary (Rephrased):
This position offers a twelve-month pharmacy residency experience designed to develop and refine the skills necessary for a successful career as a clinical pharmacist in a health system setting. The resident will rotate through various pharmacy services to gain hands-on knowledge and build expertise in diverse areas of pharmacy practice.
Education & Experience:

Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited pharmacy school is required.

Prior hospital experience is preferred.
Licensure & Certification:

Must obtain registration with the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy within four weeks of starting the residency program.
Key Responsibilities:

Adhere to hospital standards and contribute to a collaborative work environment through effective communication and teamwork.

Complete core rotations in areas such as Practice Management, Drug Information, and Ambulatory Care to develop essential clinical knowledge.

Participate in elective rotations to broaden experience in specific areas of interest within hospital pharmacy practice.

Perform the duties of a staff pharmacist in the inpatient pharmacy to build practical skills.

Conduct clinical research and participate in drug evaluation projects.

Maintain thorough documentation to ensure compliance with standards and regulations.

Stay current with developments in the pharmacy field and support continuous learning for self and others.

Engage in quality improvement initiatives in support of departmental goals and best practices.

Set personal goals and contribute to departmental planning to support both individual growth and program success.

Deliver patient care that is appropriate to the developmental and age-specific needs of the population served.
Skills & Qualifications:

Must communicate effectively and professionally with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare staff regarding medications and treatment plans.
Work Environment:

Exposure to bloodborne/airborne pathogens, infections, latex, and chemotherapy agents is possible.

Must work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions, noise, and shifting priorities.
