About the Job

This position plays an essential role on the Rehabilitation Services care team by delivering comprehensive physical therapy services such as therapeutic exercises, gait training, manual therapy, biofeedback, and patient/family education. The goal is to help patients improve mobility, strength, endurance, and flexibility, while also reducing pain. You will work with a broad patient population, treating a variety of conditions ranging from musculoskeletal and neurological to oncology and chronic pain. Physical therapists in this role are also expected to supervise therapy interns, contribute to educational and research activities within the department, and adhere to all documentation and productivity standards.

Key Responsibilities

Providing a Safe, Supportive Care Environment

  • Prioritize patient and staff safety in all interactions.

  • Use correct body mechanics and safe patient handling techniques.

  • Maintain good physical and mental health for self and others.

  • Keep the treatment area clean, organized, and aligned with infection control policies.

  • Show courtesy, respect, and discretion when interacting with patients, coworkers, and visitors.

Patient Evaluation & Treatment

  • Conduct thorough evaluations after chart reviews, screening for further rehab needs.

  • Set measurable and functional treatment goals in collaboration with patients and families.

  • Create and adjust personalized treatment plans based on progress and feedback.

  • Deliver therapy techniques and patient education with clarity and care.

  • Oversee delegated tasks performed by exercise specialists.

  • Document all care activities in accordance with OHSU and regulatory standards within three days.

  • Safely and proficiently use all therapy equipment.

  • Determine discharge readiness based on patient goals, progress, or changes in medical status.

  • Ensure billing is completed accurately for each session.

  • Assist patients with therapy scheduling and follow-up using MyChart and Cadence.

  • Manage Medicare documentation and certification processes.

  • Provide a comprehensive home program to support continued progress after discharge.

  • Meet expected productivity and performance standards.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Licensed Physical Therapist in Oregon, or completion of an accredited program with eligibility for Oregon licensure or temporary permit.

  • Must hold at least a temporary permit at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree.

  • Recent clinical experience in an ambulatory care setting or a strong clinical internship.

  • Advanced board certifications (e.g., orthopedics, neurology, oncology, sports, geriatrics); LANA or similar credentials preferred.

Additional Information

  • Variable schedule with work locations including the Center for Health and Healing, Beaverton, and once credentialed, part-time at OHSU Health Rehabilitation, Murray Scholls.
