Position Summary

The Placement Specialist at iSchool Virtual Academy (iSVA) plays a key role in student success by delivering academic planning services and exceptional customer support. This position works closely with counselors, students, parents, teachers, and administrators to guide students through transcript analysis, academic advising, graduation planning, and project-based departmental support.

Responsibilities

  • Review academic records and ensure accuracy in transcripts and scheduling.

  • Manage assigned programs and projects independently, including setup, communication, and maintenance.

  • Conduct conferences with families and students to create individualized graduation plans.

  • Update and maintain student schedules, graduation plans, and post-high school pathways.

  • Ensure academic records are received and complete; follow up when records are missing.

  • Provide timely communication with students, parents, and colleagues; document interactions in required platforms.

  • Support standardized testing, parent education, and staff development programs.

  • Assist with data collection and tracking for at-risk students, testing, graduation plans, and course selections.

  • Support planning and participate in the iSVA graduation ceremony.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Certification:

  • Associate’s Degree required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

  • Accredited high school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:

  • 2+ years in academic advising, recordkeeping, or student records management in a public school setting (preferred).

  • 2–5 years in a customer service role (preferred).

  • Prior virtual/remote work experience (preferred).

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Empathy for students and problem-solving mindset.

  • Ability to maintain professionalism under pressure.

  • Time management and multitasking abilities.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office or Google applications.

  • Comfort with technology in a virtual environment.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in academic documentation.

  • Self-directed and effective in a remote setting.
