Platform Engineer, E-Commerce

Key Responsibilities

System Architecture & Backend Development

• Design, implement, and maintain the backend infrastructure supporting our e-commerce platform, including APIs, databases, and server configuration.

• Ensure data integrity across all backend systems including product details, customer information, and order history.

• Configure and manage secure payment gateway integrations.

Platform Management & Integration

• Oversee backend operations of the e-commerce platform including configuration, updates, and troubleshooting.

• Lead integration efforts between the e-commerce platform and other business systems to enable seamless data flow.

• Continuously improve functionality and optimize performance while adhering to change management protocols.

Shopify Migration Leadership

• Drive the end-to-end migration process from the current platform to Shopify, ensuring minimal disruption to users and operations.

• Manage store logic and ERP integrations to support a streamlined, responsive customer experience.

• Act as the primary liaison among cross-functional teams such as IT, Marketing, E-Commerce, and Analytics to align technology with strategic goals.

Data Analysis & Reporting

• Leverage data analytics to identify trends, user behavior, and opportunities for performance enhancement.

Security & Compliance

• Enforce strict data protection protocols and maintain compliance with relevant legislation and internal IT policies.

• Implement proactive security measures to prevent cyber threats and protect sensitive customer data.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with external vendors, agencies, and MSPs to enhance site performance and introduce new capabilities.

• Translate technical needs for cross-functional implementation across platforms like shipping, tax, payment systems, SaaS integrations, GA4, Meta, and more.

• Facilitate API integrations to support data connectivity across multiple channels.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field

• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in platform or backend development

• Strong experience managing e-commerce platforms, especially in project and system integration contexts

• Advanced proficiency in SQL and experience with major database systems (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, NoSQL)

• Proficiency in backend and front-end programming (JavaScript, Python, CSS, React, Node.js, RESTful APIs)

• Familiarity with Shopify, including apps, customizations, and ecosystem tools

• Working knowledge of data security, integration best practices, and e-commerce architecture

• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills

Preferred:

• Experience with Shopify migration

• Familiarity with Salesforce Commerce or Magento

• Knowledge of machine learning tools and frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, scikit-learn)

• Experience with cloud database platforms (AWS RDS, Azure SQL)

• Understanding of GA4 vs. Universal Analytics

• Certifications in database or security technologies

Physical Requirements

• Ability to remain in a seated position while working at a computer for extended periods

• Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs occasionally

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: $95,000 – $105,000 annually
Final compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, and qualifications.
