Overview

East West Bank’s Commercial Banking Group in Atlanta is seeking a Portfolio Manager to oversee underwriting, credit monitoring, and portfolio management for commercial banking relationships. This role involves analyzing financial data, structuring loans, ensuring portfolio performance, and identifying opportunities for cross-selling banking services.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Relationship Managers in underwriting and structuring Commercial Lines, Asset-Based Lending (ABL), Owner-Occupied Real Estate, Sponsor-Backed Financing, and Leveraged Buyouts in alignment with bank policies.

  • Conduct due diligence and financial analysis for new client relationships and opportunity memos.

  • Co-manage commercial loan portfolios, assessing financial strength and recommending appropriate loan structures.

  • Participate in the loan approval process, presenting recommendations and ensuring compliance with credit policies.

  • Prepare financial write-ups to support new loan generation.

  • Accurately assess risk ratings for loans and credits.

  • Oversee the loan renewal process, including modifications, amendments, and waivers.

  • Serve as the primary liaison between clients, the credit department, commercial support staff, and other internal teams.

  • Collaborate with credit analysts to review existing credits.

  • Monitor covenant compliance and credit risks within the portfolio.

  • Develop solutions for problem loans and mitigate potential risks.

  • Ensure portfolio administration aligns with bank credit policies, commercial regulations, and risk management guidelines.

  • Perform administrative duties related to client portfolio management.

  • Take on special projects and other responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

  • 5+ years of banking experience, specifically in portfolio management.

  • Strong underwriting and financial projection skills.

  • In-depth knowledge of credit policies, risk assessment, and cash-flow/collateral-based lending.

  • Expertise in Commercial & Industrial (C&I) loans, including Asset-Based Lending (ABL) and Sponsor-Backed/Cash Flow Loans.

  • Proficiency in Excel, particularly for financial modeling.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a focus on quality, integrity, and client relationships.
