About the position

Kane Street Kids seeks qualified, dynamic, patient, and collaborative Head Teachers for our 3s and Pre-K programs for the 2025-26 school year. This position is full-time, with teachers working 34 hours a week between Monday-Friday.

Details

The start date for this position will be August 25, 2025. The last day of the term for the 2025-26 school year will be June 12, 2026, with the opportunity to extend through the end of June for our summer camp program. Teachers are paid biweekly over a 12-month period. Medical, vision, dental, and other benefits are available to full-time employees. Teachers do not need to be Jewish to apply, but we ask that all staff is comfortable learning and teaching about Jewish holidays and traditions.

Responsibilities

Head teachers will lead a classroom of up to 14 children with the support of an assistant teacher. A Head Teacher’s responsibilities include:

  • The safety and wellbeing of every child in your classroom based on protocols put forth by the school and the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.
  • Curriculum planning and implementing developmentally-appropriate, differentiated emergent curriculum.
  • Attendance at staff meetings and professional development/trainings.
  • Ensuring positive guidance of children’s behavior and group management.
  • Regular communication with parents throughout the year, via newsletters, email, communication app, and printed materials.
  • Regular communication with Assistant Teacher, including planning and providing feedback.
  • Classroom visits by students and their families and family orientations prior to the beginning of the school year.
  • Student progress reports (twice annually) and Parent/Teacher Conferences (three times annually).
  • Two special events outside of regular teaching hours.
  • Classroom set-up and maintenance which includes keeping toys and surfaces clean and sanitized.
  • All general tasks involved in the smooth running of a creative, developmentally-appropriate classroom.
  • Teach remotely as may be required.
