Job Details:
The Prevention Specialist plays a key role in implementing suicide, mental health, and substance abuse prevention services within the Gila River community. This position focuses on educational outreach, early identification of risk factors, and connecting individuals with appropriate resources, with an emphasis on youth engagement in schools and community settings.
Key Responsibilities:

Execute grant-funded prevention programs to meet defined goals and objectives.

Collaborate closely with the Prevention Administrator and Behavioral Health team.

Conduct community-wide educational training on substance abuse, suicide prevention, and wellness.

Deliver evidence-based curriculum in schools serving Gila River students.

Develop and support media campaigns in coordination with the Public Relations Department.

Ensure timely reporting and documentation in compliance with grant requirements.

Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance at all times.

Order and distribute educational materials throughout the community.

Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, counseling, or a related field.

Experience in mental health, chemical dependency, or substance abuse treatment.

Cultural competency and ability to relate to the Gila River Community and Native American populations.

Strong interpersonal, presentation, and written communication skills.

Previous experience in a healthcare or behavioral health setting preferred.
