RESPONSIBILTIES:

The purpose of this position is to take the lead to assimilate non-centralized procurement areas into the centralized procurement operating model. Target areas are Indirect Services; Human Resources, Information Technology, Premiums, Human Resources and Research & Development. Areas where spend has been historically overseen by functional groups without procurement engagement.

  • Interface and partner with both Consultants and VP level Hormel key stakeholders to build strategy, lead internal alignment, and standup framework to future category management.
  • Work in partnership to develop the strategy and implementation for multiple Hormel spend categories, potentially in the range of $600M – $1B in spend.
  • Develop framework and strategy for new procurement areas in the centralized model.
  • Partner with outside consultants and internal stakeholder senior leaders to collaborate and align on engagement and cost savings projects.
  • Negotiate complex contracts with key suppliers.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical field: Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management or a related hard science field.
  • Broad procurement and business knowledge, as demonstrated by previous category. management in Directs Materials and Indirect Services.
  • Strong core procurement skills, and strong stakeholder engagement.
  • Solutions and detail oriented and possess strong skills in the following areas: Complex Contract Negotiation, Influencing without authority, Able to build high speed of trust, Excellent communication, Change management and project management.
  • Minimum of 10 years of work experience in Procurement or Supply Chain, leading improvements within category.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with ability to both work independently and interface with cross functional team members.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills with high resiliency and speed of trust.
  • Proven problem-solving, decision-making, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be a Citizen or National of the United States, a lawful, permanent resident, or have authorization to work in the United States.
