Job Summary

As a Produce Department Manager at Mariano’s, you will lead and inspire your team to deliver exceptional customer experiences, maintain a safe and clean work environment, and achieve sales and profit goals. You’ll oversee all daily produce operations—ensuring fresh, high-quality products and top-tier merchandising—while fostering a welcoming, customer-first atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate all functions of the Produce department

  • Uphold company values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety

  • Set and achieve department sales, profit, and quality goals

  • Maintain sanitation, safety, and food safety standards

  • Develop and train associates on department procedures, inventory control, and merchandising

  • Create customer-friendly displays and seasonal promotions

  • Greet and assist customers, answer questions, and offer product recommendations

  • Inspect and ensure freshness and quality of produce

  • Monitor inventory, reduce shrink, and maintain price integrity

  • Schedule staff effectively to meet customer volume demands

  • Work in refrigerated environments and lift up to 50 pounds as needed

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • 18 years of age or older

  • Strong communication and basic math skills

  • Ability to handle stressful situations

  • Current food handler’s permit (or ability to obtain)

Preferred:

  • Management experience

  • Produce department experience
