Job Summary
We are seeking a Coding Auditor and Educator to perform detailed audits of medical records, validate coding accuracy, and educate providers and coders to ensure adherence to CMS guidelines and healthcare regulations. This remote, part-time position plays a key role in revenue integrity and compliance.
Key Responsibilities

Audit and validate coding of diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS modifiers

Identify opportunities for improvement in documentation and charge capture

Educate providers on accurate documentation and coding practices

Support risk adjustment initiatives including HCC and high-risk scoring
-
Collaborate with leadership on updates to the Charge Description Master (CDM)

Maintain compliance with Trinity Health’s policies and applicable federal regulations
Minimum Requirements
-
High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training preferred
-
Active Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) credential (required)

2–5 years of coding experience (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS); working knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer rules

Ability to work independently and in team-based environments

Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Proficiency with Windows-based systems and coding software
Preferred Qualifications

3–6 years of professional coding experience
-
Prior auditing experience and ability to code from operative reports

Knowledge of CDM methodology and regulatory pricing practices
Remote Work & Tech Requirements

Ability to maintain confidentiality and secure patient information remotely

Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems, email, and intranet platforms
