Role Overview:
We’re looking for an experienced and highly organised Project Assistant to support the Step Up to Social Work programme. This role provides administrative and operational support to the academic and project management team and plays a key part in ensuring an excellent student and partner experience.
This is a dynamic role that requires confidentiality, initiative, and strong interpersonal and organisational skills.
Key Responsibilities:

Act as the first point of contact for students and regional partners

Support administrative functions, committee meetings, and formal events

Maintain filing systems, respond to emails, and manage correspondence

Liaise with internal teams and external partners across Greater Manchester and Yorkshire & Humberside

Handle finance administration including invoices and expenses
-
Provide support with admissions, reporting, evaluations, and the overall student experience

Take minutes at meetings and follow up on action items

Support the Programme Leader and contribute to the ongoing improvement of services

Travel and flexible working may be required
Required Skills & Experience:
-
Degree or relevant experience in a similar administrative/project support role

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook and Excel

Experience handling confidential materials and providing first-class customer service

Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
-
Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and deliver to deadlines
-
Previous experience in HR admin, event coordination, budgeting, and note-taking

Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team

High attention to detail, accuracy, and professional discretion

Flexibility to adjust hours when necessary and support outside of normal business hours
