Your Role as a Psychiatry Specialist

As a Psychiatry Consultant, your responsibilities will include:

• Conducting assessments, diagnoses, and evidence-based treatments for patients with mental health conditions.
• Providing consultation services within medical, surgical, and emergency departments.
• Partnering with rural and Indigenous communities to enhance mental health access.
• Leading service development initiatives to improve mental health care.
• Mentoring medical students and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

EKRH is an 80-bed regional referral hospital serving over 82,000 people across East Kootenay. Our state-of-the-art facility includes:

• 24/7 emergency and trauma services with a 16-bed unit and 6-bed ICU.
• Advanced diagnostics with new MRI, SPECT CT, and upcoming CT scanners.
• Renovations underway for NICU, ER triage, oncology, and renal departments.
• A full range of specialty services, including internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, radiology, and family practice inpatient care.

Compensation, Benefits, and Incentives

We offer a competitive compensation package, including:

• Earnings potential: $400,000 – $600,000 via fee-for-service billings, sessional contracts, and MOCAP level 2.
• Vacation leave with flexible scheduling for work-life balance.
• Relocation support: $9,000 (within BC), $12,000 (within Canada), $15,000 (international relocations).
• Recruitment incentive: $20,000 (prorated for part-time roles).
• Retention premium: 14%, plus an annual retention flat fee of $21,696.
• Continuing medical education (CME) funding, starting at $1,800 for the first two years and increasing up to $7,800 after four years.
