Duties and Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all company policies and established procedures.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the Service Desk/Kiosk.
  • Present a neat, well-groomed appearance at all times in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Assist with special projects and carry out additional tasks as directed by supervision.
  • Work within the company’s Management Planning Process (MPP) to ensure productivity.
  • Support and follow all company safety standards, reporting any necessary equipment repairs or maintenance needs. Keep work areas clear of debris and safety hazards.
  • Treat all associates with fairness, dignity, and respect.
  • Perform accurate price checks as needed.
  • Minimize unnecessary use of store supplies, including ribbons, receipt tape, bags, and cleaning materials.
  • Record any price discrepancies or unlisted items encountered at the electronic point-of-sale terminal, and promptly request price checks as per company policy.
  • Verify customer identification and adhere to store policies regarding check acceptance and the sale of tobacco/alcoholic beverages.
  • Follow company guidelines regarding excess cash in registers and request cash pickups as necessary.
  • Maintain security awareness by staying vigilant, monitoring customer behavior, and reporting any suspicious activity to management or security.
  • Process all types of transactions, including cash, checks, authorized Accounts Receivable sales, electronic payments, WIC, coupons, gift cards, bottle credits, refunds, lottery, and Western Union, ensuring full compliance with company policies and legal regulations.
  • Secure the register at all times when unattended and safeguard company assets.
  • Properly use and maintain equipment, reporting any malfunctions immediately.
  • Uphold housekeeping and sanitation standards in compliance with store policies and health regulations.
  • Possess knowledge of and be able to differentiate between various types of produce, including distinguishing between similar products (e.g., different apple varieties, types of lettuce, etc.).
  • Frequently perform cashier and service associate responsibilities.
  • Carry out any other assigned duties as needed.

  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Must meet the minimum age requirements for specific job functions.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical aspects of the job.
  • Proven capability to perform the required job functions effectively.

Prerequisite Training

  • Successful completion of the Cashier/Service Associate training program.

Physical Requirements

  • Stand for 100% of the work shift, with occasional short-distance walking.
  • Frequently handle currency (paper and coin) and operate various equipment, including cash registers, lottery machines, scanners, computers, and calculators.
  • Regularly bend and lift items weighing up to 15 pounds, frequently lift up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally push or pull up to 75 pounds.
  • Frequently reach and grasp at waist level; occasionally reach above shoulder or below waist level.
  • Meet established productivity standards for the role.
  • Possess sufficient visual acuity to verify ID cards, checks, invoices, and other written documents.

  • Greet and assist customers in a friendly, courteous manner.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service.
  • Accurately scan and process customer purchases at the cash register.
  • Accept payments in the form of cash, checks, or electronic funds and provide correct change in accordance with company policies.
  • Process customer refunds and returns following standard company procedures.
  • Meet the physical demands of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Follow Anti-Money Laundering protocols while handling Western Union transactions, money orders, prepaid cards, and check cashing services.
