Cafcass (Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service) represents children in family court cases in England. We provide independent advice to family courts about what is safe and in the best interests of children, prioritizing their needs, wishes, and feelings. We ensure children’s voices are heard throughout the family court process.
Operating under parliamentary law (Criminal Justice and Court Services Act 2000) and family court rules, we are independent of the courts, social services, education and health authorities, and similar agencies.

Children’s Social Worker (Family Court Adviser) Vacancies
We’re recruiting Children’s Social Workers (Family Court Advisers) for positions in both our Private and Public Law teams.
Family Court Advisers work on cases where families need assistance agreeing on arrangements for the welfare and safety of their children, or where the local authority has serious concerns requiring Cafcass involvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting assessments and directly engaging with children to understand and represent their views and wishes to the court.

- Utilizing expertise in robust risk assessment and mediation to advocate for arrangements that prioritize children’s best interests.
Who We’re Looking For:
- A relevant Social Work qualification is essential.
- Registration with the Social Work England regulator is required.
- Ideally, a minimum of 3 years’ experience working with children and families in a social work capacity.
- Experience in Family Court proceedings and knowledge of Private and/or Public Law is desirable.
- Strong organizational skills, resilience, and the ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
