Company Overview
Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI), established in 1996 through the unification of four Catholic health systems, is a nonprofit, faith-based healthcare organization dedicated to building and supporting healthier communities across the United States. Headquartered in Englewood, Colorado, CHI is one of the nation’s largest nonprofit health systems, operating in 18 states.
CHI’s extensive network includes 100 hospitals—among them two academic health centers, numerous teaching hospitals, and 30 critical-access facilities. The system also encompasses community health organizations, accredited nursing schools, home health agencies, senior living communities, and a wide array of inpatient and outpatient care services.
In fiscal year 2018, CHI contributed over $1.14 billion in financial assistance and community benefit, including support for underserved populations, free clinics, education, and research. When accounting for the unreimbursed costs of Medicare, that total rises to approximately $2.1 billion. With annual operating revenues of $15 billion and total assets of around $20.5 billion, CHI continues to live out its mission by delivering compassionate care and promoting health equity throughout the communities it serves.
