About the Job

Position Details – Radiologic Technologist (Per Diem)
Location: Radiology Diagnostic, Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center
Shift: Variable (PM Shift Differential: $2.75/hr | Night Shift Differential: $4.25/hr)
Hours: 8-hour shifts (8/40 schedule)
Weekend Requirement: Weekends Only
On-Call: Yes
Pay Range: $45.58 – $72.04/hour (based on experience and qualifications)
Union Info: This position falls under the SEIU-UHW Collective Bargaining Agreement. Employment requires union membership within 31 days of hire, with continued participation throughout employment.

What You’ll Do

As a Radiologic Technologist, you’ll play a vital role in delivering high-quality imaging services while ensuring excellent patient care. You’ll perform a wide range of diagnostic procedures, support physicians during exams, and maintain strict safety and documentation standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of a formal training program from an AMA-approved radiologic school

  • Current Certifications (all required):

    • Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association

    • ARRT Certification

    • Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) – CA Department of Public Health

    • Fluoroscopy Permit – CA Department of Public Health

Preferred Experience

  • 1 year of relevant clinical radiology experience

Key Responsibilities

1. Imaging & Quality Care

  • Conduct diagnostic imaging procedures with precision and proper patient positioning

  • Ensure all imaging is performed according to department protocols and safety standards

  • Administer imaging agents (e.g., contrast) as needed

2. Patient Interaction & Education

  • Provide pre- and post-procedure education to patients and families

  • Tailor communication to each patient’s age, health status, and comprehension level

  • Maintain a supportive and respectful interaction with patients and their families

3. Documentation & Data Accuracy

  • Verify and document physician orders, contrast use, fluoroscopy time, and technical information accurately

  • Ensure correct labeling of studies and proper data entry in imaging systems

4. Safety & Compliance

  • Adhere to sterile technique and universal precautions to prevent contamination

  • Ensure accurate patient identification and monitor patient status throughout procedures

  • Follow established policies related to Advanced Directives and patient confidentiality

5. Professionalism & Collaboration

  • Assist radiologists during procedures

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives

  • Maintain professional communication and support a respectful work environment
