Position Overview: Radiologic Technologist

Primary Purpose
This role is responsible for acquiring high-quality diagnostic radiographic images to support accurate diagnosis and exceptional patient care within Parkland’s Radiology Department.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education:
    Must be a graduate of an accredited Radiology Program or hold equivalent education recognized by the ARRT (R) certification exam.

  • Experience:
    No prior experience required.

  • Certifications/Licensure:

    • ARRT (R) certification required within 3 months of hire.

    • Texas Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) certification required within 6 months.

    • BLS certification (CPR) required, obtained through:

      • American Heart Association

      • American Red Cross

      • Military Training Network

Core Responsibilities

  • Produce high-quality radiographic images using appropriate techniques and adapt to individual patient needs.

  • Administer contrast material and monitor for any adverse reactions.

  • Maintain accurate patient and exam documentation in electronic health records.

  • Ensure proper equipment setup, safety, and quality control procedures are followed.

  • Communicate effectively with patients, explaining procedures and addressing concerns.

  • Assist physicians during procedures as needed.

  • Participate in ongoing departmental quality improvement initiatives and training.

  • Serve as a team player, assisting colleagues and promoting a positive, collaborative work environment.

  • Stay current with licensure, certifications, and ongoing professional development.

  • Act as a patient advocate by providing compassionate, high-quality care.
