About the Job
General Overview
The Radiology Student Aide plays a supportive role in conducting radiologic procedures and examinations under the supervision of a radiologist or designated practitioner. This position reports to the department’s Supervisor, Manager, or Director.
Key Responsibilities

Understands and carries out instructions for radiologic procedures, assists in gaining patient cooperation, operates imaging equipment, ensures radiation safety for patients, and accurately documents results.

Applies a solid understanding of radiation protection standards, anatomy, radiographic physics, and equipment operation to support high-quality diagnostic imaging.

Assists with a variety of imaging services such as conventional X-ray, CR, DR, Fluoroscopy, Bone Density scans, and Urodynamics.

Supports procedures across multiple settings including inpatient, OR, ED, and outpatient environments.

Helps evaluate image quality and performs clinical lab-related tasks including specimen processing and transport, equipment care, and proper handling protocols.

Uses sound clinical judgment and prioritizes patient safety during procedures.

Responds to urgent patient needs when necessary and performs additional duties as required.
Licensure and Certification

Must obtain ARRT Radiologic Technologist certification within one year of hire.

CPR certification is required within 90 days of hire and must be maintained.
Education and Experience
-
Must be currently enrolled in an accredited radiologic technology program.

Requires working knowledge of diagnostic radiology techniques and equipment.

Strong interpersonal communication skills are essential for working with patients, families, and healthcare teams.

Analytical skills needed to ensure optimal imaging quality with minimal radiation exposure.

Pediatric phlebotomy experience is highly valued.
Work Environment

Works primarily in clinical settings with exposure to patient care environments.

May encounter communicable diseases and other moderate risks associated with healthcare delivery.
