Alpha School is hiring a Reading Specialist to help redefine literacy education through our innovative 2-Hour Learning Model. You’ll combine evidence-based reading instruction with AI-powered adaptive tools to deliver faster, measurable results for early elementary students. This role goes beyond teaching—you’ll also design scalable literacy programs, collaborate with engineers to refine technology, and inspire students with creative, motivational approaches.
Responsibilities

Deliver adaptive reading workshops to build phonics, fluency, and comprehension skills.

Create engaging, gamified literacy milestones that keep students motivated.

Analyze student progress data and adjust instruction for measurable gains.

Partner with engineers to evaluate and improve AI literacy tools.

Develop scalable content that personalizes learning for diverse student needs.
What You Won’t Do

Follow rigid, one-size-fits-all curricula.

Spend hours on traditional lesson planning, grading, or admin work.

Manage overcrowded classrooms with limited resources.

Focus more on behavior management than reading instruction.

Work in isolation without contributing to program and product development.
Requirements

Bachelor’s degree with advanced certification in reading instruction (e.g., Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, or equivalent).

Minimum 2 years’ experience delivering small-group reading interventions for early elementary students.

Skilled at assessing reading levels, grouping students, and differentiating instruction.

Proficient with AI/adaptive learning tools and responsive to student behavior.

U.S. work authorization (no sponsorship provided).

On-site availability at one of the listed campuses.

Working With Us

Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week.

Contract: Independent Contractor via Crossover.

Compensation: $50/hour ($100,000/year).
