Join Hestia as a Refuge Worker – Empowering Women in Wandsworth
Are you passionate about supporting women affected by domestic abuse? Hestia is seeking a dedicated Refuge Worker to join our Wandsworth team. As a Refuge Worker, you’ll provide person-centred support in a residential setting, helping women rebuild their lives and achieve independence. This part-time role is integral to our mission of fostering an equitable, diverse, and inclusive environment.
Role Overview: Refuge Worker Responsibilities

Deliver intensive, person-centred support to women in a residential refuge setting.

Conduct key sessions, community meetings, and daily check-ins to assess and monitor individual needs.

Co-produce Support and Safety Plans with residents, focusing on their strengths and goals.

Provide advice on safety, domestic abuse, housing, and independent living.

Liaise with statutory bodies on safeguarding matters and support move-on accommodation.

Promote empowerment through workshops and social activities, following “The Hestia Approach.”
Qualifications and Experience: What We’re Looking For

Experience supporting individuals with diverse and complex needs, including mental health issues and substance misuse.

Proficiency in delivering high-quality floating or outreach support, developing support plans, and conducting risk assessments.

Knowledge of safeguarding, welfare benefits, housing legislation, and accurate casework recording using computer systems.

Ability to work independently in the community and travel throughout the borough.
