Albuquerque Adult Day Program

About the Role
Ability First is currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team full-time in Santa Fe, NM. In this critical role, you will play an essential part in delivering high-quality, person-centered care to individuals with special needs. You will work within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of our clients are met with the highest standards of clinical and ethical practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive health assessments and monitor the ongoing health status of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

  • Develop, implement, and update individualized care plans in accordance with each client’s unique medical and behavioral needs.

  • Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely, in compliance with all relevant regulations and protocols.

  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, case managers, and direct support staff to coordinate care and maintain continuity across services.

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all care provided, including nursing notes, medication records, and incident reports.

  • Provide education and training to staff and caregivers on healthcare procedures, wellness strategies, and emergency response.

  • Respond to health emergencies and manage acute care situations as necessary.

  • Promote dignity, respect, and quality of life for all individuals served by Ability First.

Required Qualifications

  • Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the State of New Mexico.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an accredited provider.

  • Proven ability to assess patients, plan and deliver appropriate care, and administer medications safely.

  • Prior experience working with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities is highly desirable.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in documentation and follow-through.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members, families, and external professionals.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a cohesive interdisciplinary team.

  • Previous experience in a residential, community-based, or long-term care setting is preferred.
