Registered Nurse, Dialysis Program Development
We’re looking for a highly skilled Registered Nurse to play a pivotal role in establishing and growing a new dialysis unit. This position focuses on both home-based hemodialysis (HHD) and peritoneal dialysis (PD) programs, as well as overseeing in-center treatments. If you’re a dialysis expert ready to lead, innovate, and make a significant impact, we encourage you to apply!
Key Responsibilities
You’ll be instrumental in every phase of the new unit’s development and ongoing operations, including:
- Clinic Setup & Compliance: Collaborating with the Nephrologist and administrators to establish clinical protocols, policies, and procedures for home dialysis programs. You’ll ensure full compliance with local government and healthcare regulations, coordinating inspections and documentation for state and CMS certification.
- Equipment & Systems Management: Overseeing the installation and configuration of Baxter (Vantive) and Fresenius Medical Care (FMC) dialysis systems. You’ll ensure all machines are operational, calibrated, and meet quality standards for both home therapies and in-center HD, and develop training materials for their use.
- Program Development: Acting as the lead nurse in creating a patient-centric care model. This includes establishing infection control practices, emergency protocols, and supply management, as well as helping build the interdisciplinary care team (social work, dietitian, etc.) and their workflows.
- Patient Training & Education: Leading the training and education of home dialysis patients and their caregivers on performing safe and effective HHD and PD at home. You’ll provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for home patients, and oversee in-center HD treatments to ensure best-in-class care.
- Quality Assurance: Monitoring clinical outcomes and quality indicators, and implementing quality improvement initiatives to drive excellent patient outcomes and safety. You’ll ensure all documentation and care delivery meet CMS quality standards for dialysis.
- Leadership & Growth: Working closely with leadership to plan for program expansion. You’ll assist in recruiting and mentoring additional nursing staff or dialysis technicians as the patient census grows, with potential for advancement into a Nurse Manager or Program Director role.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
- Registered Nurse License: A current RN license in Wyoming, or a compact state RN license with the ability to obtain Wyoming licensure.
- Dialysis Experience: Significant clinical experience in dialysis nursing, including both home hemodialysis (HHD) and peritoneal dialysis (PD).
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with Baxter (Vantive) and Fresenius Medical Care dialysis machines and systems.
