Responsibilities

All newly graduated Registered Nurses with less than 12 months of practice experience hired into a scheduled FTE Registered Nurse position are automatically enrolled in the Nurse Residency Program—no separate application or enrollment process required. All nurses new to Mayo Clinic will receive an extensive orientation program, regardless of experience.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will be responsible for:

  • Coordinating nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care.

  • Supporting professional nursing practice across various settings to meet patient and family needs.

  • Working within the Mayo Nursing Care Model, including planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients, as guided by the ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice.

  • Providing leadership through roles such as preceptor, informal leadership, and involvement in quality improvement efforts.

  • Delegating patient care based on skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability, and resource availability.

  • Possessing excellent communication skills and the ability to mentor, teach, and participate in committees or projects.

This role is eligible for TN sponsorship, requiring successful state licensure and completion of VisaScreen or equivalent certification.

Qualifications

  • Graduate or student of a registered nursing program.

  • Entry-level associate degree registered nurses (RN start date on or after April 1, 2020) must complete their baccalaureate degree in nursing within five years of their RN start date.

  • For those with an RN start date prior to April 1, 2020, evidence of baccalaureate degree completion as per the requirements in place at the time of hire.

Additional Qualifications

  • 1 year of hospital RN experience preferred

  • Emergency Department RN experience preferred

License and Certification

  • Current MN RN license

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) for Healthcare Providers required at time of hire, from either:

    • American Heart Association

    • American Red Cross

Compensation Details

  • Compensation range: $37.70 – $57.73 per hour (based on union contract)

Schedule

  • Full-Time

  • Hours/Pay Period: 60 hours

  • 12-hour night shifts, with holiday rotation

  • Weekend Schedule: Every 3rd weekend
