Position Summary:

The Shapiro Center is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Clinical Services team. In this role, you will provide professional nursing care to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a supportive, team-based environment. Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct nursing care and support to individuals on assigned shifts.

  • Guide and support lower-level nursing and direct care staff in safe care practices.

  • Attend treatment team meetings and document medical updates for interdisciplinary coordination.

  • Complete quality assurance tasks, including audits and infection control reporting.

  • Serve as the shift’s nursing resource in the absence of other RNs.

  • Stay current with nursing techniques and regulatory updates through ongoing training.

  • Other duties as assigned in accordance with the role.


Required Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Associate’s, Diploma, or Bachelor’s in Nursing).

  • Current Illinois RN license.

  • This title qualifies under the Upward Mobility Program.


Conditions of Employment:

  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and participate in on-call rotations.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and restrain individuals if needed for safety.

  • Basic computer proficiency and ability to use standard office equipment.

  • Must obtain and maintain CPR certification.

  • Must pass a background check and drug screening.

  • Must be able to travel for job-related duties.


Shift Availability:

  • Clinical Services:

    • 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (Mon–Fri)

    • 10:30 AM – 11:00 PM (varied shifts with rotating days)

    • 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM (rotating schedules)

  • Residential Units (Unit 2 & 4):

    • 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (Mon–Fri)
