Responsibilities
The Registered Nurse is accountable for delivering safe and effective patient care by applying the nursing process, which includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. This role involves providing direct patient care within the defined scope of nursing practice. The Registered Nurse also oversees and supports patient and family education, as well as the activities of other nursing staff, while upholding care standards in the ICU. They are directly responsible and answerable for the care provided to their assigned patients. Effective communication with physicians regarding changes in patients’ clinical status—such as hemodynamic monitoring, diagnostic results, and abnormal symptoms—is essential.
Qualifications

Valid and current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification at the time of hire and maintained thereafter.

Completion of a Critical Care Course is preferred.

Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation certification required within 30 days of hire.

Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 30 days of hire and must be maintained.

Minimum of one year experience as a staff RN in an acute care hospital setting; critical care experience preferred.

Critical Care RN (CCRN) certification is preferred.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree is preferred.
