About the Role
We are seeking a Remote Physician Pro Fee Coding Specialist – Cardiology to accurately assign CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 codes for professional fee services documented in patient medical records. This role ensures compliance with governmental regulations, third-party payer policies, and corporate coding standards, while supporting physician documentation, coding integrity, and revenue cycle accuracy.
Key Responsibilities

Assign accurate CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 codes for professional services, procedures, diagnoses, and treatments.

Ensure proper sequencing, modifier use, and place-of-service coding in compliance with NCCI edits, LCDs, NCDs, and corporate protocols.

Perform coding audits and quality reviews to verify documentation accuracy and identify provider education needs.

Work coding-related claim edits, holds, and scrubs in electronic billing systems (e.g., Athena Collector) to ensure timely claim resolution.

Collaborate with physicians, revenue cycle teams, and coding education staff to clarify documentation and ensure coding compliance.

Perform edit checks on coded data, identifying and correcting errors prior to claim submission.

Maintain confidentiality of patient records and provider information, adhering to HIPAA and corporate compliance policies.

Assist with coding-related special projects, reporting, and operational improvement initiatives.

Participate in provider education and training as needed.
Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma/GED required; Associate Degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred.

Experience: 2–4 years in physician coding, professional fee coding, or medical billing; experience in multiple specialties, surgical coding, or high-volume professional fee coding preferred.

Certifications:

Required: Certified Coder (CPC – AAPC or AHIMA) or CCS/CCS-P

Preferred: CEMC or RHIT

Skills & Knowledge

Proficiency with ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems for professional fee services.

Understanding of modifiers, place-of-service coding, and payer billing requirements.

Familiarity with EHR, coding software, and claims processing systems.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.

Effective communication and collaboration with providers, revenue cycle, and compliance teams.
