Job Overview
The Tailor/Seamstress plays a key role in ensuring Macy’s customers look and feel their best. You’ll perform a wide range of alterations and garment repairs, offering tailored advice, precise fitting, and expert care with every piece.
Key Responsibilities

Perform basic and complex alterations (sleeves, waists, hemlines, etc.)

Conduct fittings and provide expert garment care advice

Replace buttons, mend seams, and perform minor repairs

Press and steam garments for a polished finish

Maintain alteration records and inform team of supply needs

Deliver outstanding customer service
Qualifications
-
High school diploma or equivalent

Sewing/alteration experience preferred

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work independently and with a team

Flexible availability

Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods

Ability to operate and maintain sewing machines
Physical Requirements

Standing, reaching, kneeling, and lifting for long periods

Must operate sewing machines and steamers

Frequent use of computer and handheld tech
