Position Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care aligned with established clinical standards and IHA protocols. This includes patient triage (both telephone and in-person), care coordination between office visits, and support for indirect care needs. The RN demonstrates clinical leadership within the scope of their licensure and serves as a resource to the care team.
Essential Responsibilities
Responsibilities may vary depending on assignment. Some RNs may focus on specialized tasks such as prior authorizations or indirect provider support.

Triage patient needs in-person and via telephone using established clinical protocols.

Accurately document assessments, interventions, and communication in the medical record.

Apply critical thinking to evaluate symptoms, determine care priorities, and escalate appropriately.

Enter provider-directed orders (e.g., medications, labs, imaging, referrals) per applicable guidelines.

Follow nursing protocols and standard workflows for routine and urgent patient issues.

Schedule appointments and encourage use of the patient portal for engagement and communication.

Deliver age- and condition-appropriate education during all patient interactions.

Coordinate care with extended team members (Care Management, Pharmacy, Behavioral Health, Nutrition).

Support providers in indirect care tasks such as reviewing results and managing orders.

Identify care gaps in preventative and chronic condition management.

Perform medication reconciliation and manage prescription refill requests per protocol.

Collaborate with insurance companies, DME suppliers, home health agencies, and other partners to address patient needs.

Assist in the prior authorization process by reviewing clinical documentation.

Address patients’ social determinants of health needs and connect them with appropriate resources.

Participate in quality improvement initiatives and serve on committees as needed.

Act as a clinical resource for Medical Assistants and LPNs, providing guidance as appropriate.

Attend daily team huddles and weekly patient care meetings.

Required Qualifications
Education:

Graduate of an accredited Registered Nurse program.
Licensure/Certification:

Valid, unrestricted RN license in the State of Michigan.

Current CPR certification.
Experience:

1–2 years of clinical experience preferred (physician office or medical setting).

New nursing graduates may be considered.

Physical & Environmental Expectations

Frequent use of computers and telephone systems.

Occasional lifting of up to 100 lbs and physical patient support (e.g., transfers, dressing assistance).

Work may involve exposure to bodily fluids, sharps, and unpleasant sights or odors.
