Emerson is hiring a Sales Area Manager (SAM) to lead and grow a defined geographic territory, spanning multiple industries and customer types. This senior-level sales role requires a strong background in test and measurement solutions, strategic planning, and customer relationship management. You’ll be responsible for building a Regional Growth Plan, driving revenue, and ensuring customer success through collaboration with NI resources, distributors, resellers, and solution integration partners.

This role reports directly to the Regional Sales Manager.


Core Responsibilities

  • Territory & Account Management

    • Develop and execute regional growth and territory plans.

    • Drive pipeline development, forecasting, quota attainment, and technical sales presentations.

    • Prospect and expand opportunities across key accounts and new business.

  • Customer Relationship Building

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with decision-makers at technical and leadership levels.

    • Identify customer needs, challenges, and goals to deliver tailored NI solutions.

    • Foster long-term customer retention and loyalty.

  • Channel & Partner Collaboration

    • Leverage relationships with distributors, resellers, and solution integration partners.

    • Foster new non-direct opportunities with small and medium partners.

    • Identify new partnerships to expand NI’s market share.

  • Strategic Sales Execution

    • Stay informed on local market trends, government funding opportunities, and competitive insights.

    • Collaborate with sales, engineering, marketing, and product teams for territory success.

    • Develop and execute territory events, marketing plans, and growth strategies.

  • CRM & Forecasting

    • Maintain accurate sales activities in Salesforce.

    • Deliver timely forecasts, reports, and performance updates to senior management.

  • Demo & Technical Engagements

    • Operate demo hardware at customer sites, trade shows, and events.

    • Ability to transport, set up, and tear down demo equipment up to 100 lbs.


Job Requirements

  • 7+ years of sales experience in test & measurement or related industries.

  • Engineering degree or equivalent professional experience.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.

  • Experience running a sales territory (pipeline, planning, forecasting).

  • Strong technical sales presentation skills.

  • Ability to travel frequently within the assigned territory with demo equipment.


Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range: $149,000 – $200,000 annually (commensurate with skills & experience).
