Job Description

Wigginton Primary School is currently looking to hire a reliable and hardworking School Caretaker to join our supportive team. This part-time, early-morning School Caretaker position involves ensuring the school site is safe, secure, and ready for the day ahead. Working 10 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 7:00–9:00am during term time), you’ll be responsible for daily safety checks, minor maintenance tasks, and opening the premises. Extra flexibility is available during school holidays. Key Responsibilities of the School Caretaker Role

As a School Caretaker, your daily duties will include:

  • Opening up the school and performing safety and security checks each morning.

  • Conducting routine maintenance and basic DIY where necessary.

  • Performing weekly water flushing checks and addressing ad hoc tasks as needed.

  • Ensuring the premises are clean, safe, and ready for staff and pupils.

  • Maintaining health and safety standards across the site.

Job Details and Application Information

  • Hours: 10 hours/week (Mon–Fri, 7–9am), term time. Extra flexibility during school holidays.

  • Contract: 52 weeks/year, includes 25 days’ paid holiday (pro-rata), rising to 30 days after 5 years’ service.
