Are you passionate about supporting children’s health and well-being? As a School Health Assistant, you will play a key role in delivering integrated, evidence-based services that promote early intervention and preventative care for children and their families. Working primarily in schools, you may also engage with families in homes, community centers, and health clinics.
We are looking for a School Health Assistant who is warm, flexible, and eager to contribute to our innovative and progressive school nursing service. You’ll work alongside a dedicated team to implement the National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP) and other health initiatives, ensuring positive outcomes for young people.

Key Responsibilities of a School Health Assistant
Delivering Health Support in Schools
- Arrange and conduct National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP) screenings, including measuring children’s height and weight, recording data, and providing follow-ups.
- Perform vision screening as per local guidelines, ensuring data accuracy and appropriate referrals.
- Support the implementation of the Healthy Child Programme and targeted public health initiatives.
Engaging with Families and Schools
- Partner with schools, families, and local health professionals to promote children’s well-being.
- Deliver structured short-term interventions to families in need, aligned with NCMP guidelines.
- Assist in planning and facilitating health promotion activities for children and young people.
Administrative & Record Keeping Duties
- Prepare engaging health promotion materials and displays in schools.
- Maintain accurate records in compliance with national and local policies.
- Work closely with School Nurses, Clinical Leads, and Locality Leads to ensure seamless service delivery.
What We’re Looking For in a School Health Assistant
- Enthusiastic individuals with a passion for child health and community well-being.
- Experience working with children and young people in a healthcare, education, or social care setting is desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with schools, families, and multi-disciplinary teams.
