Job Overview
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
- Maintain full awareness of scheduled group activities, hotel occupancy, facilities, services, operational hours, facility layout, emergency procedures, and departmental policies.
- Review department logs to stay updated on relevant information for each shift.
- Communicate with the previous shift officer regarding hotel status and follow-up actions.
- Issue and track radios, beepers, and keys for authorized hotel personnel, ensuring their safekeeping per hotel protocols.
- Verify employee identification and timecard accuracy upon arrival and departure in accordance with hotel standards.
- Conduct audits on employee timecards as assigned.
- Escort non-hotel personnel while on property as per security policies.
- Inspect employee belongings such as packages, bags, and purses when entering or exiting the property, following hotel regulations.
- Provide security escorts for employees when needed.
- Monitor after-hours access to secured areas, ensuring proper authorization and documentation.
- Oversee deliveries received outside of business hours in accordance with hotel procedures.
- Collaborate with external agencies (e.g., law enforcement) and comply with established hotel regulations.
- Coordinate emergency responses as outlined in departmental guidelines.
- Immediately notify the Director of Security during emergency situations.
- Operate and monitor surveillance cameras as assigned.
- Investigate duress alarms and respond appropriately.
- Conduct security patrols, inspect designated areas, and document all activities following departmental protocols.
- Identify and resolve safety hazards throughout the property.
- Secure guest room doors and provide access assistance per hotel guidelines.
- Challenge suspicious individuals on hotel property per security policies.
- Conduct investigations into thefts, lost items, noise complaints, assaults, food-related incidents, and other guest concerns. Complete reports following established procedures.
- Respond promptly to guest/employee accidents, administer first aid/CPR as required, and provide information to emergency medical personnel.
- Intervene in incidents involving guest or employee conflicts and follow appropriate procedures.
- Manage intoxicated guests per state regulations and hotel policies.
- Oversee vehicle towing procedures as per department guidelines.
- Respond to vehicle accidents or thefts, document information, and follow designated protocols.
- Assist in relocating guest possessions, securing inventory, and managing “E” key rooms in compliance with hotel policies.
- Organize and store lost and found items, document guest inquiries, and coordinate returns as per hotel procedures.
- Assist guests with storing and safeguarding valuables, adhering to security policies.
- Make lawful arrests in accordance with legal and hotel regulations.
- Maintain confidentiality of all security and hotel reports/documents, disclosing information only to authorized personnel.
- Foster positive relationships with guests and employees while delivering excellent customer service.
- Respond courteously to all guest requests and inquiries.
- Maintain communication with hotel personnel via radio or beeper in accordance with standard procedures.
- Complete all necessary reports clearly and accurately as required.
- Document all critical information in the security logbook daily.
- Finalize all paperwork and tasks before concluding each shift and relay any relevant information to the incoming security officer.
- Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety policies, including department-specific training on equipment and procedures.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Language Proficiency: Must be fluent in English with strong written, verbal, and reading skills.
- Conflict Resolution: Capable of handling conflicts and stressful situations professionally and effectively.
- Customer Interaction: Must be able to engage with guests and employees tactfully and diplomatically, especially in difficult situations.
- Organizational & Administrative Skills: High attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines, and capability to work under pressure independently.
- Leadership & Team Motivation: Strong leadership abilities with the capability to motivate and support colleagues.
- Experience: Prior experience in security is required.
