Key Responsibilities of a Senior Accountant

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for the hospice division.

  • Manage journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close processes.

  • Ensure GAAP compliance and adherence to healthcare-specific reporting standards, including Medicare/Medicaid cost reporting.

  • Support budgeting and forecasting with operational leaders.

  • Oversee accounts receivable, payables, and revenue recognition for hospice services.

  • Collaborate with auditors during annual audits and compliance reviews.

  • Analyze financial trends to support strategic decisions.

  • Mentor junior accounting staff and improve finance systems and workflows.


Qualifications for the Senior Accountant Role

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA/CMA preferred).

  • 4–6+ years of progressive accounting experience; hospice or healthcare preferred.

  • Deep understanding of GAAP, healthcare revenue recognition, and cost reporting.

  • Experience using ERP or healthcare accounting systems.

  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills.

  • Exceptional organization, accuracy, and attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

Salary and Benefits

  • Salary Range: $112,000–$140,000 annually

  • Location: Remote (specific states required for employment eligibility)
