Key Responsibilities of a Senior Accountant

Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for the hospice division.

Manage journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close processes.

Ensure GAAP compliance and adherence to healthcare-specific reporting standards, including Medicare/Medicaid cost reporting.

Support budgeting and forecasting with operational leaders.

Oversee accounts receivable, payables, and revenue recognition for hospice services.

Collaborate with auditors during annual audits and compliance reviews.

Analyze financial trends to support strategic decisions.

Mentor junior accounting staff and improve finance systems and workflows.
Qualifications for the Senior Accountant Role

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA/CMA preferred).

4–6+ years of progressive accounting experience; hospice or healthcare preferred.

Deep understanding of GAAP, healthcare revenue recognition, and cost reporting.

Experience using ERP or healthcare accounting systems.

Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills.
