Opportunity: Senior Accountant – Subscription Accounting
Hearst Magazines, a leading global publisher with over 25 iconic brands like Cosmopolitan and Good Housekeeping, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our finance team in Charlotte, NC. You’ll play a key role in our Subscription Accounting Department, focusing on a new Revenue Growth Management platform while maintaining existing financial operations across all Hearst Magazines brands.
Your Impact:
- Prepare monthly journal entries and reconcile accounts related to subscription revenue.
- Collect, interpret, and evaluate accounting reports from our new subscription platform.
- Ensure revenue recognition aligns with ASC 606 standards.
- Partner with finance directors across the organization to ensure accurate recording of operational activities according to GAAP.
- Identify and implement process improvements, particularly focusing on automation within Membership accounting.
- Maintain accuracy and confidentiality of financial information.
- Continuously develop your skills and stay updated on industry trends.
Who You Are:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (pursuing CPA is a plus).
- 2-3 years of relevant work experience in revenue accounting.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel (experience with automation and Power BI is a plus).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships across all management levels.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and well-organized.
- Experience with Oracle is a plus.
