Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Accountant to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial transactions, maintain compliance with GAAP and institutional policies, and support the month-end close and financial reporting processes. Reporting to the Assistant Controller, this role will also serve as the primary liaison between the Finance and Development teams, managing gift and pledge accounting and enhancing collaboration around fundraising efforts.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Accuracy & Compliance:

    • Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations in accordance with GAAP

    • Ensure proper revenue recognition, including compliance with ASC 606

    • Support month-end and year-end close processes, including accruals and reporting

  • Gifts & Pledges:

    • Track and reconcile gifts and pledges

    • Collaborate with Development and Sponsored Research to align financial records with fundraising data

    • Serve as Development’s primary finance contact and provide training as needed

  • Process Improvement:

    • Identify and implement improvements to financial workflows for increased efficiency and compliance

    • Assist in ERP system upgrades or implementation

  • Audit Support & Reporting:

    • Prepare documentation and respond to auditor requests during external audits

    • Contribute to internal and external financial reports and analyses


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in public accounting or private industry (nonprofit or research institution preferred)

  • Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, reconciliations, and revenue recognition (ASC 606)

  • Experience working with fundraising/development teams is a plus

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills

  • Proficiency in ERP systems (Oracle, SAP, or similar preferred)

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment


Work Arrangement:
This position offers a hybrid schedule with a mix of in-office collaboration and remote flexibility.
