Senior Advisor, Process Safety

We are seeking a Senior Advisor, Process Safety, whose role will be to support the daily operations of the Minerals Group production sites. This includes implementing, coaching, and monitoring the health of the Process Safety standard, including functional safety, across our operations. The role reports directly to the General Manager, Technical.

This position offers an excellent opportunity to join a multidisciplinary team. The scope includes all processes from mining to finished products, covering ore pre-treatment, casting, purification, metal powders, and critical minerals such as scandium and lithium.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure, coordinate, and assist with the deployment of the Process and Functional Safety Standard (process, machinery, and autonomous vehicles) across the Minerals Group operations.
  • Advise, guide, and make adjustments to ensure the best application of Operational Safety management in daily operations and foster cultural improvement.
  • Establish standard management processes, create implementation action plans, and train site teams on Process Safety.
  • Collaborate with the Minerals advisor and the Process Safety experts’ team to standardize and deploy best practices swiftly.
  • Coordinate a network of site practitioners (10) in operational and functional safety.
  • Report key site indicators regarding Process Safety health status to site Management Committees.
  • Develop, in collaboration with Minerals sites, a functional safety standard implementation plan.
  • Liaise with central groups on Process and Functional Safety.

Your Contribution

  • Commitment to safety: for yourself and your team.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Chemical, Process, Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering).
  • Previous engineering experience with a solid understanding of international engineering best practices, codes, and standards for safe facility design relevant to the operating country.
  • Strong operational experience in high-risk facilities or industries, using recognized processes or regulations such as CSA Z767, OSHA PSM, CCPS, or Energy Institute standards.
  • Formal training and experience in Operational Safety management within projects.
  • Proven expertise in hazard analysis techniques (HAZID, HAZOP, Bow-Tie, ALARP, LOPA) and consequence modeling. Experience in leading significant incident investigations.
  • Leadership experience in process safety, operations, process control, or technical/engineering roles in heavy industries. Skilled in facilitating meetings, influencing strategic decisions, and turning strategies into practical solutions to boost productivity.
  • Fluency in French and English, spoken and written. Daily collaboration with colleagues, teams, or partners outside Quebec is required.
  • Availability for regular site travel (20-30%).
