Department Overview:
Flutter Group’s Tax Team, led by the Tax Director (reporting to the CFO), is a high-profile function based in London, Dublin, Leeds, and the Isle of Man. Supporting established brands like Paddy Power, Betfair, SkyBet, PokerStars, FanDuel, and Sportsbet, the team manages the Group’s tax affairs across numerous international locations and various tax categories, encompassing both compliance and structuring/advisory.
Role Overview/Purpose:
This Direct Tax Advisory role within the Group Tax Team supports all aspects of Flutter Group’s direct tax strategy. You will collaborate with key stakeholders across the business, including Commercial teams, Group Finance and Treasury, as well as the wider Tax Team and overseas Finance teams. This position reports directly to the Direct Tax Director – Advisory.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Lead the Tax Advisory team in implementing global tax planning projects aligned with Flutter Group strategy, coordinating with the wider Tax Team and internal stakeholders.
- Manage and implement tax considerations within Treasury processes, including Group financing, refinancing, debt servicing, cash management, and profit repatriation.
- Proactively identify and address tax risks and opportunities, developing and implementing appropriate procedures.
- Partner with the business to manage international tax risks, including permanent establishment, withholding taxes, and other local requirements.
- Analyze tax implications of new products and services to ensure compliance with local tax regulations.
- Manage tax advisor spend within budget.
- Communicate tax advice clearly and effectively to business stakeholders, ensuring accurate implementation aligned with Tax Team strategy.
- Promote tax awareness across the Group and build relationships with key stakeholders in all jurisdictions.
- Lead tax input for Group M&A activity, including due diligence, commentary on structuring, and post-project completion analysis.
- Lead tax workstreams for new business integration, identifying and mitigating risks, and developing appropriate structures aligned with Tax Team strategy.
- Manage tax aspects of international expansion into new jurisdictions.
Education, Qualifications, and Experience:
- Qualified Chartered Tax Advisor.
- Proven track record in tax, particularly tax advisory, within a similar environment.
- Minimum 6 years post-qualification experience in tax is preferred.
- Accountancy qualification is a plus.
- Strong commercial awareness is essential.
- Understanding of financing considerations and issues.
- Experience with cross-border and international tax matters.
