Senior Data & Reinsurance Analyst
Key Responsibilities
Reinsurance Reporting:

Oversee and drive the reinsurance reporting process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to regulatory requirements.

Enhance the flexibility and efficiency of reinsurance renewal and audit data calls.

Develop and maintain comprehensive reinsurance reports for both internal and external stakeholders.

Collaborate with reinsurance, finance, and actuarial teams to gather and analyze data for reporting purposes.
Data Analytics:

Conduct in-depth data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights that inform business decisions.

Apply advanced analytical techniques to interpret complex datasets and provide actionable recommendations.

Develop predictive models and risk assessments to support reinsurance strategies.
Process Improvements:

Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency within reinsurance reporting and data analytics functions.

Implement best practices and streamline workflows to improve accuracy and reduce operational risks.

Lead initiatives to automate manual processes, increasing efficiency and reducing errors.
Dashboard Development:

Design and develop interactive dashboards using Power BI to visualize key metrics and performance indicators.

Ensure dashboards are user-friendly, visually compelling, and provide real-time insights for stakeholders.

Continuously enhance and update dashboards based on user feedback and evolving business needs.
Power BI Expertise:

Act as the subject matter expert for Power BI, offering guidance and support to team members.

Develop and maintain Power BI reports, datasets, and data models to drive data-driven decision-making.

Train and mentor team members on Power BI best practices and advanced functionalities.
Project Leadership:

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify business needs and translate them into data-driven solutions.

Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business objectives.

Assist in business requirements documentation and execute User Acceptance Testing (UAT).

Partner with IT and data engineering teams to optimize data infrastructure, streamline workflows, and develop new data pipelines as needed.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.

3-5 years of experience in reinsurance reporting, data analytics, or a similar role within the insurance industry.

4+ years of experience in data analytics, including leading end-to-end projects.

Proficiency in Power BI, particularly in data modeling and dashboard development.

Strong skills in SQL, Python, R, and other data analysis tools.

Extensive experience in data visualization using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker.

Ability to analyze complex data and translate findings into actionable insights.

Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical audiences.

High attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and data integrity.

Proven experience in process optimization, automation, and best practices implementation.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Solid understanding of insurance products, underwriting, claims, and risk management.

Ability to translate business challenges into technical requirements and collaborate with engineering teams to develop impactful solutions.
Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced degree or professional certifications (CPCU, ARe, CFA).

Experience with additional data visualization tools (Power BI preferred, Tableau, Qlik).

Knowledge of reinsurance treaties and regulatory requirements.
Compensation & Benefits
For roles based in New York, Starr Insurance Companies provides a competitive salary range of $130,000 – $150,000, depending on experience, skills, certifications, and business needs.
