About the Role
As a Senior Data Engineer & Analyst at the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB), you’ll play a vital leadership role within the Business Services Division. This hybrid position—based in the Austin, TX area—blends data engineering and analytical expertise to support strategic decisions and drive performance across multiple lines of business.
You will design and build scalable data lakes, databases, and reporting structures to unlock actionable insights that enhance business performance and inform key organizational strategies. Serving as a critical resource for senior leadership, your contributions will influence enterprise-wide data initiatives and support one of TASB’s most externally facing divisions.
Your Day-to-Day
Business Analysis

Analyze operational data across business units to inform strategic decisions.

Track and report on organizational goals and performance metrics.

Assess business systems, workflows, and processes to identify improvement opportunities.

Gather stakeholder requirements and translate them into clear technical and reporting specifications.
Data Architecture & Development

Design and develop scalable reporting architectures that align with organizational goals.

Build and maintain Power BI reporting structures, especially for BuyBoard.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure technical alignment with business objectives.

Implement flexible and secure data models that support future growth.
Database Management

Design, implement, and manage databases across multiple business units.

Optimize reporting systems for data quality, integrity, and security.

Develop and maintain data schemas based on evolving business requirements.

Implement robust data backup and recovery strategies.
Technical Leadership
-
Deliver comprehensive reporting and analysis that support long-term strategy.

Stay current on emerging technologies and trends in data architecture and analytics.

Champion innovation, continuous improvement, and efficiency within the team and broader organization.
What You Bring
Education & Experience
-
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, or a related field.

2–3 years of experience in business operations.

2–3 years of experience designing and developing data architecture.

Demonstrated success in data analytics and transforming data into strategic insight.
Skills & Abilities

Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex data and draw actionable conclusions.

Expertise in SQL and/or NoSQL database design, implementation, and maintenance.

Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional stakeholders.

Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices is a plus.
