About the Role: Senior Data Scientist

We are looking for an experienced and strategic Senior Data Scientist to join our forward-thinking Data Science team. This role will focus on driving impactful, data-powered initiatives that enhance customer experiences and optimize business operations. You’ll work cross-functionally with engineering, product, marketing, and operations teams to deliver machine learning and advanced analytics solutions that shape decision-making across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development, implementation, and deployment of machine learning models for business-critical areas such as demand forecasting, inventory optimization, and customer personalization.

• Partner with stakeholders to identify data-driven opportunities and deliver actionable insights to support strategic initiatives.

• Mentor junior data scientists and analysts, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

• Design and manage scalable data pipelines and workflows for seamless system integration.

• Perform in-depth exploratory data analysis to detect trends, outliers, and key business drivers.

• Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate models into production systems, ensuring stability and scalability.

• Clearly communicate complex data insights to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership.

• Stay abreast of the latest developments in data science and machine learning to continually enhance FreshDirect’s analytics capabilities.

Qualifications

• Master’s or Ph.D. in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related discipline.

• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in data science, with a strong focus on machine learning, predictive modeling, and advanced analytics.

• Expertise in Python, R, and SQL, and experience with libraries such as Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Pandas.

• Solid knowledge of statistical analysis, machine learning algorithms (supervised, unsupervised, deep learning, reinforcement learning), and data mining.

• Experience working with large datasets, cloud platforms (AWS, GCP), and big data tools (e.g., Spark, Hadoop).

• Strong analytical thinking and the ability to translate complex challenges into scalable data science solutions.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across departments and present findings to leadership.

• Prior experience in e-commerce or retail is a plus.

Compensation

• Salary Range: $105,800 – $129,908
