Haven-2 is designed to support NASA’s Commercial Low Earth Orbit Destinations (CLD) program, serving as a microgravity research and innovation platform.

Responsibilities:

As a DevOps Engineer on the Flight Software team, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing our development lifecycle through automation, scalability, and seamless integration. Your work will directly impact the deployment and operation of both embedded and containerized applications that support mission-critical spaceflight systems.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Design, develop, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate deployment, scaling, and lifecycle management of embedded and containerized applications.

  • Collaborate with the Flight Software Test team to schedule and deploy software to physical hardware test assets.

  • Build and manage cloud-native solutions in AWS and Kubernetes to support software integration and delivery.

  • Work cross-functionally with IT, Ground Software, and other technical teams to align and implement DevOps strategies across the organization.

  • Accelerate the software development lifecycle by improving tooling, optimizing build systems, and managing shared platforms and services.

  • Ensure timely and secure delivery of Flight Software releases to downstream pipelines and Ground Software systems.

  • Develop the end-to-end release delivery pipeline for vehicle integration, including testing, validation, attestation, and secure artifact delivery.

  • Support internal DevOps infrastructure, including ArgoCD, Artifactory, internal GitHub Actions marketplace, security scanners, and other custom tools.

  • Contribute to shaping the DevOps culture and infrastructure within a fast-paced and collaborative aerospace environment.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • 3+ years of programming experience in C++, Python, Go, or Java.

  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipeline development, ideally using GitHub Actions and AWS.

  • Proficiency with build systems such as CMake, Bazel, or Buck, with a focus on build speed and optimization.

  • Strong Linux system administration skills and experience managing both cloud-based and on-premises build/test servers.

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.

  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies, particularly Docker and Kubernetes.

  • Strong communication, prioritization, and collaboration skills in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience managing integration tests across hardware-constrained environments or limited CI resources.

  • Background working with Flight Software or embedded systems teams.

  • Familiarity with SAST tools and automated code quality/security scanning processes.

  • Experience using and managing artifact registries like Artifactory, Nexus, or similar.

  • Understanding of observability and monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or the ELK stack.


Additional Requirements:

  • Willingness to support mission-critical operations, which may occasionally include evenings or weekends.


Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary Range (California): $155,000 – $190,000 USD
    Final compensation is based on experience, qualifications, market trends, and internal equity.
