Position: DevOps Engineer (Hybrid – Columbia, MD)
We are seeking a skilled and motivated DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will help build, maintain, and optimize cloud and edge infrastructure in support of large-scale big data solutions. This position involves automation, container orchestration, CI/CD processes, and close collaboration with software development teams.
You’ll work primarily in a hybrid environment (averaging 1–2 days on-site weekly), contributing to mission-critical systems while continuously evolving our technology stack.
Key Responsibilities:

Design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure on AWS, particularly EKS

Support non-cloud (edge/on-prem) infrastructure deployments

Automate deployment workflows to ensure service scalability and reliability

Manage Kubernetes clusters and container environments
-
Integrate DevOps processes with application development workflows
-
Monitor and troubleshoot production systems
-
Continuously improve infrastructure performance and availability
-
Stay informed about emerging tools and technologies
-
Perform other related duties as needed
Required Qualifications:
-
Active Secret U.S. Government Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required)
-
9+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree (or 7+ years with a Master’s; or 13+ years without a degree)
-
Strong proficiency in AWS (e.g., EKS, EC2, Lambda, S3, EBS)
-
Expertise in Linux system administration and troubleshooting
-
Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Ansible)
-
Familiarity with container management and scaling (Docker, Kubernetes)
-
Skilled in scripting/programming (Python, Bash, or Go)
-
Experience with tools like Git, Flux, and CI/CD platforms

Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
-
Understanding of Agile methodologies and standard development toolchains

Must hold a DoD 8140/8570 compliant certification (e.g., Security+)

Ability to work on-site 1–2 days/week in Columbia, MD, with schedule flexibility
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Accumulo, Kafka, NiFi, Spark, Elasticsearch, Ceph, PostgreSQL, Trino, Hive, etc.)

Familiarity with advanced tools and platforms including Diode, Terraform, and EKS
-
Willingness to participate in on-call rotations, if needed
