About The Role
This position supports contracts with the U.S. Federal Government, requiring all candidates to be U.S. citizens (either naturalized or native) due to federal security requirements.
In this role, you’ll develop, build, deploy, and support security-specific solutions and infrastructure to protect Workday customer data. You’ll work in a hybrid environment, allowing flexibility with up to 50% remote work. We are seeking a candidate who thrives in a fast-paced, microservices environment, where scalability and resilience are critical. This position involves collaborating within a diverse team and ensuring the smooth operation of production systems, as well as building secure, scalable digital security systems that are central to all Workday services. Occasional after-hours support for critical service outages is required.
About You
Basic Qualifications:

Must possess a valid and active TS/SCI with CI POLY security clearance.

5+ years of software development or DevOps experience.
-
5+ years of experience with internet protocols such as TCP/IP, HTTP, SSL/TLS, etc.

3+ years of experience with Linux and container technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker).
-
3+ years of experience with AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or similar cloud technologies.
Other Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Experience automating infrastructure with modern programming languages (Python, Go, Ruby, Java).

Experience managing SQL and NoSQL databases.

Knowledge of cryptographic systems, Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), or key management systems (e.g., Hardware Security Modules).

Familiar with full lifecycle software engineering practices, including coding standards, testing, code reviews, and operations.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to a variety of audiences.

Expertise in orchestration tools (e.g., CloudFormation, Terraform, Ansible, Chef) and CI tools (e.g., Jenkins, TeamCity, Bamboo, Artifactory).

Experience with bare metal server operations is a plus.

Solid background in Linux and Shell scripting.
Workday Pay Transparency Statement
Base salary ranges for this role vary depending on location and level of experience:

Primary Location: McLean, VA (Tyson’s Corner) — $161,300 to $241,900 annually.
-
Additional U.S. Locations — $145,900 to $259,200 annually.
In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for performance-based incentives, including bonuses and annual stock grants. Compensation offers will be determined based on factors like geography, experience, and job responsibilities.
