Senior Financial Analyst Role Overview
The Senior Financial Analyst will work directly with the Finance Manager and support one of Ascent’s three core business segments—On-Demand, International Freight Forwarding, and Brokerage & Managed Transportation—alongside key corporate departments such as IT, HR, Finance, and Marketing. This position offers the flexibility to work fully remote or hybrid from one of Ascent’s 20 U.S. offices.
As a Senior Financial Analyst, your work will include annual planning, continuous forecasting, monthly financial reviews, and maintaining advanced FP&A tools such as Alteryx, Snowflake, Power BI, and Excel. You’ll also collaborate with internal partners to deliver timely insights, improve reporting systems, and support strategic decision-making across the organization.
Key Responsibilities for the Senior Financial Analyst
- Partner with FP&A and business leaders to deliver annual financial planning and continuous forecasting.
- Facilitate monthly financial reviews for business lines and corporate functions.
- Enhance Ascent’s FP&A technology stack, including Alteryx, Snowflake, Power BI, and Excel reporting.
- Support ongoing FP&A improvement projects and initiatives.
- Conduct ad-hoc financial analysis and provide actionable insights to senior leadership.
- Gain deep knowledge of Ascent’s financial systems, policies, and procedures.
What You’ll Bring as a Senior Financial Analyst
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
- 3–5 years of financial planning and analysis experience (logistics industry experience is a plus, but not required).
- Knowledge of financial statements and GAAP principles.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office; experience with Power BI, Power Query, Snowflake, Alteryx, and Great Plains is preferred.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Willingness to travel periodically as needed.
