Opportunity: Senior Manager – Payroll (Americas)

Based in Manhattan and reporting to the Corporate Controller- Americas, you will lead the end-to-end weekly payroll processing for Soho House across North America (US: 2000+ employees, 7 states, 24 entities; Canada).

Your Responsibilities:

  • Own and manage the entire weekly payroll cycle from initiation to reconciliation, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
  • Generate weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly payroll financial reports.
  • Serve as the internal subject matter expert and process owner for all payroll activities, ensuring team adherence to standards.
  • Guarantee the accuracy of financial data and compliance with company policies, SOX, and internal controls.
  • Invest in team development through coaching, mentoring, and appropriate tools.
  • Collaborate closely with finance, tax, benefits, HR, legal, IT, and operations to ensure secure payroll processing according to procedures, legal requirements, and local laws.
  • Assist with processing employee changes, including terminations and retro payments, in compliance with regulations.
  • Develop and refine short-term and long-term payroll strategies.
  • Oversee payroll, benefit, and financial setup for new business openings, collaborating with relevant departments.
  • Process weekly 401k funding and deferral changes, and assist with the annual 401k audit.
  • Partner with finance to calculate vacation accruals and audit employee benefits and deductions.
  • Coordinate annual Workers’ Compensation audits and manage year-end reporting and W2 review.
  • Address payroll inquiries from employees and managers and prepare operational labor reports.
  • Assist with special projects and analyses, and support internal and external audits as needed.
  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality and integrity.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance/Accounting, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in payroll operations within a global, publicly traded company.
  • 4+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Strong expertise in international payroll and US federal, state, and local payroll taxation.
  • Experience managing high-volume payroll for a North American employee base, including California.
  • Experience processing global equity transactions (RSUs, ESPP, or Stock Options preferred).
  • Proven project management skills and a drive to streamline processes at scale.
  • Experience with system integrations and new implementations.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively partner with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Experience with Paycom (a significant plus).
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification (preferred).
