Position Overview

Scan Global Logistics (SGL) is seeking a strategic and results-oriented Senior Manager, Ocean Product to join our team. This role is ideal for a driven professional with extensive experience in ocean freight and pricing strategy. As a key contributor to our North American operations, you will lead initiatives to optimize pricing, enhance carrier partnerships, and drive business growth across the region. You’ll work closely with station managers, the Ocean Freight team, and global stakeholders to ensure our ocean product remains competitive and aligned with market demands.


Key Responsibilities

  • Champion and implement SGL North America’s global carrier management strategies.

  • Partner closely with station managers and the VP of Ocean Freight to execute procurement activities and achieve volume goals.

  • Manage escalated carrier-related issues and ensure timely resolution.

  • Continuously evaluate and improve pricing for high-volume customers and re-procure strategic accounts.

  • Act as the ocean freight subject matter expert, supporting sales teams with product knowledge and joint customer engagements.

  • Drive the development of our LCL (Less-than-Container Load) consolidation services.

  • Lead key product initiatives and contribute to strategic ocean freight planning.

  • Oversee the preparation and submission of RFQ (Request for Quotation) tenders, ensuring optimal cost, service, and vendor reliability.

  • Build and lead a regional ocean freight community to align practices and performance across the North America region.

  • Represent North America in SGL’s global ocean freight forums and contribute to international initiatives.


Qualifications & Skills

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in ocean freight forwarding.

  • Educational background in international business or logistics is preferred.

  • Experience in project management, process improvement, or process mapping is a plus.

  • Strong understanding of market dynamics and ocean carrier operations.

  • Analytical mindset with strong business acumen.

  • Proven negotiation skills and the ability to build trusted relationships.

  • High ethical standards and a strong sense of accountability.

  • Effective communicator with professional-level English proficiency (written and verbal).

  • Self-motivated, proactive, and detail-oriented with a focus on results.

  • Team-oriented and collaborative, with a positive and motivating leadership style.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer.

  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 15 pounds.


Work Eligibility & Security

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.

  • Must pass TSA security screening.


Position Details

  • Job Type: Full-time

  • Compensation: $125,000 – $150,000 annually (based on experience)

  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8-hour shifts

  • Location: Hybrid (Remote with in-office requirements)
