About the Job
This direct-hire role, based in Martinsville, VA, requires on-site presence daily. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience designing, implementing, and supporting secure, high-performance enterprise networks, with expertise in Cisco technologies, Palo Alto firewalls, Trend Micro security solutions, and cloud and virtualization platforms like Microsoft Azure and VMware.
Key Responsibilities
Network Infrastructure

Design, configure, and manage enterprise LAN, WAN, and wireless networks using Cisco solutions.

Optimize and maintain Cisco infrastructure, including routers, switches, and wireless controllers.

Deploy and manage Meraki cloud-managed networking solutions (switches, access points, firewalls).

Administer Palo Alto Networks firewalls, including security policy management and VPN configurations.

Implement Trend Micro security tools (Apex One, Deep Security) for endpoint and network protection.

Ensure high uptime and reliability through network monitoring and troubleshooting.
Cloud & Virtualization
-
Manage network connectivity and security within Microsoft Azure (VPNs, virtual networks, ExpressRoute).

Support hybrid cloud infrastructure initiatives integrating on-premises environments with Azure.

Administer VMware vSphere environments, including ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, and virtual networking.

Participate in secure cloud migration planning and execution.
Security & Documentation

Implement network segmentation, access controls, and firewall rule sets to meet security standards.

Enhance network security across on-prem, cloud, and virtual platforms.

Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including network diagrams and procedures.
Collaboration & Support

Work cross-functionally with systems, security, and application teams to resolve incidents.

Stay updated on emerging technologies and best practices in networking and cloud infrastructure.

Provide Tier 3 support and participate in on-call rotations as needed.
Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field, or equivalent experience.

7+ years of hands-on network engineering experience in medium to large enterprise environments.

Proficiency with Cisco technologies (routers, switches, wireless solutions).

Experience with Palo Alto Networks firewalls; certification (PCNSA or PCNSE) preferred.

Working knowledge of Trend Micro security platforms.

Experience with Meraki dashboard management.

Expertise in Microsoft Azure networking (VPNs, VNets, ExpressRoute).

Experience with VMware environments (vSphere, vCenter, ESXi).

Deep understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, VPNs, QoS).

Familiarity with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG, Wireshark).

Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
