Company Name: Dolby Laboratories

Company Overview

We’re the rhythm of the rain in your favorite movie scene. The soundtrack pushing you through your last mile at the gym. The subtle footsteps behind you in a game, and the voice on the other end of a call that feels like it’s right beside you. We bring sunsets to life on your screen in breathtaking color and clarity.

At Dolby, we bring experiences to life through the power of technology. It’s been our passion since the very beginning.

Our story began with Ray Dolby—a visionary, scientist, and music enthusiast—who was driven to elevate the way we listen. Fueled by a deep love for sound and tireless experimentation, he developed a breakthrough solution that was not only technically sophisticated and elegantly simple but also committed to preserving the integrity of the artist’s original vision.

Though we’ve grown into a global organization, Dolby Laboratories remains grounded in Ray’s values—where science intersects with art, and technology becomes more than just code.

Founded in 1965 and headquartered in San Francisco, Dolby is now a worldwide leader in innovating and developing technologies that transform audio, imaging, and voice across cinema, home entertainment, personal devices, and interactive experiences. From Dolby Digital Plus and TrueHD to Dolby Voice, Dolby Atmos, and Dolby Vision—our technologies are trusted by creators and enjoyed by millions around the world.
